Marie Kessel Postdoctoral Fellowship Program

The Department of Psychiatry of Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons, in affiliation with the Marie Kessel Foundation, has one postdoctoral fellowship position available to study treatment for neuro-and social-cognitive disorders in neuropsychiatric populations. Fellows will develop neurorehabilitation skills, develop independent research projects, and collaborate on ongoing research protocols on neurocognitive remediation, motivation, learning, and insight.

The position entails doing neuropsychological and social cognitive research in various psychiatric disorders, including schizophrenia. Although this fellowship is primarily intended for applicants on an academic medicine trajectory, there is a strong emphasis on clinical work.  Past fellows have gone on to academic faculty positions or started their own private therapy practice.  The mentor is Alice Medalia, PhD, Professor, Neuropsychologist, and Director of Psychiatric Rehabilitation at Columbia University.

Qualified applicants should have their doctorate in clinical psychology or neuropsychology before starting in July-August 2010 or be very close to defending their dissertation by then.

Application deadline is 2/10/11.

Columbia University and the Kessel Fund are AA/EOE.
